Carello Auto was founded in 1998 in Johannesburg by Fausto Carello who made a name for himself in Italy as a successful and well known rally driver,
along with his brother Tony
Carello who still competes.
The Carello family originally began their business in the Italian automotive industry by manufacturing headlamps for Fiat, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. Fausto brought with him an immense knowledge and passion for the automotive industry when he relocated the family to South Africa and joined Johannesburg based panel beating, mechanical and sales company Tak Motors, and Ferrari agents for South Africa.

In 1998
Fausto Carello followed his dream and formed Carello Auto, factory approved auto body repairer.  Today Fausto’s son, Tato Carello fills the position of Member and Operations Manager for the company.  Tato has five years operational experience and his enthusiasm and loyalty to his staff round off a solid team.   Working alongside Tato in the position of Member and Managing Director, Tony Imbriolo brings twenty years of experience to Carello Auto

From his first position working in stores, Tony progressed to working with the panel shop, the paint shop, on the assembly line and finally in quality control.  He has worked as an estimator and obtained an international Dale Carnegie Management Diploma in (1991).  Tony has also served as Sambra Vice Chairman for 2004/2005, dedicated to uplifting the industry as a whole.

With a strong desire to keep both companies progressive in a constantly changing corporate and economic environment, Tony and Tato have committed
Carello Auto to an ongoing process of empowerment, from creating opportunities for staff development, to initiating comprehensive BEE ownership. Carello Auto's workshop is set up with state of the art equipment, in order to meet the requirements of being a major structural Sambra repairer.

Once a vehicle is quoted on, assessed and authorized by the relevant insurance company, parts are ordered and once they arrive, vehicles are then moved into the workshop.

  1. I have had the worst experience ever with Carello Auto following the below mail sent to Carello Auto and my insurance company in February 2019 I found(October 2019- 8 Months after the repair) that the paint started making bubbles/Lifting clearly indicating that they are incompetent in their job.

(Mail sent in Feb 2019) - On arrival the vehicle was ready for collection, upon inspection I noticed that there were still marks on the vehicle that wasn’t fully rectified.
The pen marks that I have made on the vehicle in order to show the defect was still present after spraying the vehicle which clearly indicated that the job wasn’t done to standard.
There was still dull marks on the driver’s door sill and inside of the driver’s door that had a paint run that also wasn’t rectified, as well as on the right rear passenger door which they tried rectifying on the spot.
The right rear window beading also had a nick in it which could have been caused when they removed it, which they said they would also look at after advised them that I’m not happy with the work and that they should please see I they can get it fixed as I’m not in a hurry for the vehicle and I don’t want them to feel rushed.

On the 11th of Feb they advised that the vehicle is now ready for collection, whereby we proceeded to collect the vehicle on Wednesday the 13th Feb.
Upon collection the vehicle was inspected again and found that the previous problems was rectified except for the door run which they also tried fixing it again while waiting.
I also picked up that the door bumper rubber wasn’t present where they then had to run around in order to find one.
The door beading also want looked at as promised.

After waiting there for about an hour I advised them that I am not going to leave the vehicle with them again in order the get the other things fixed and that I will except the vehicle as is.

I just feel that Carello auto should have inspected the vehicle thoroughly the first time around and made sure that the work is done as per the requirements of VWSA.
I think that the quality of their workmanship and attention to detail is not present and that they should definitely be re-assessed all manufacturers and Insurance companies as well as the RMI.

P.S I Urge the public to please avoid Carello Auto
